Haitian International builds a factory in Serbia

Jul. 13, 2022

Haitian International is expanding its European manufacturing and logistics network with an investment of more than €100 million in a modern factory in Ruma, Serbia. The highly efficient factory will produce around 2,500 customer-specific injection moulding machines per year.

With this investment in the Central Balkans, Haitian International reaches another outstanding milestone in its growth strategy. The group recently announced that it is expanding with new infrastructure and sites around the world to further strengthen its global competitiveness. This global expansion will also protect against rising transport costs and logistical difficulties. Ruma, Serbia, is an important logistics and transport hub.

Construction of the Ruma plant will start in the winter of 2022, with a planned handover in early 2025. This factory will be home to the production of all Haitian servo-hydraulic models: the customer-specific machines of the Mars (MA) series of elbow-lift and Jupiter (JU) series of compact biplanes, from 60 to 3,300 tonnes clamping force.

Building global production

"Ruma is ideally positioned for us to directly supply all European countries and strengthen local customer support," said Zhang Bin, CEO of Haitian Group and Managing Director of Haitian International.
The site covers a total area of 365,000 m². Of this, 250,000 m² is for manufacturing and assembly, injection moulding machine storage and logistics. The remaining area will be used for strategic development through collaboration within the Haitian Group. "Ruma will also be of interest to other divisions, as we will gain considerable experience with the technology development centre in Shunde (southern China). Thanks to the highly efficient collaboration within the Haitian Group down to the manufacturing depth, our customers will be able to directly benefit from our competitive advantages, such as automation solutions, MES systems, or customized manufacturing cells to achieve Lean Production." - Zhang Bin added.
