Moisture Metering

The latest release of our reliable moisture analyzer for measuring water content in plastics

Basically, the measuring method is based on the reaction of gaseous water and a reagent, which is calcium hydride.

The sample material is weighed and placed in a sample pan. The sample dish forms part of a reactor integrated in the HydroTracer. A heater heats the sample to the selected temperature. The water emerging from the sample material reacts in a cooled area with the powdered reagent, which converts water into hydrogen. The concentration of the hydrogen gas is measured. It is a measure of the amount of water in the reactor.

The material moisture can be determined with high precision using the sample weight and the humidity values in the air.
